How to Volunteer

We are a diverse and friendly group of Volunteers from all walks of life - engineers, artisans, students, teachers, artists, gardeners, healthcare workers, counsellors, fund raisers. We each bring different levels of experience and knowledge to the Workshop, sharing our enthusiasm and interests. Many of our volunteers started as absolute beginners, taking part in one of our taught disciplines - carpentry, wood turning, carving, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, furniture renovation … discovering a talent they never knew they had, then got involved by teaching others, assisting a more experienced volunteer.
It’s a great way of building confidence, and making new friendships along the way. If you have a little time to give, always on a flexible basis, then we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch by either visiting the workshop one weekday morning, or by contacting us on 01395 443455 and speaking to either Bill or Katie McDermott, or one of our other volunteers. If you are a student, we may be able to sponsor you, or if your resources are stretched, then we can make it work for you. The Community Workshop is a non profit organisation which relies entirely on volunteer help and visitor support wherever you may be based. |
