On Friday 21st May 2021 we opened our doors to visitors for the first time as part of a series of Community Engagement Days organised by our Partner, Budleigh Hub Seachange in collaboration with other community service providers.
Over 100 visitors and supporters came along to the old Fire Station, many registering their interest in getting involved in the Charity’s activities - teachers, artisans, crafters, community support workers, representatives of other local charities - collectively offering an array of practical and creative skills to this fledgling Community enterprise. And to give a flavour of the types of activities that will be offered in the Workshop, there were demonstrations of Scroll Saw Work, Wood Turning, Wet Felting, 3D Printing and Tool Sharpening. When we asked visitors what kind of projects they would like to get involved in, the most popular activities were Carpentry, Scroll Saw Work, Textile and Needlecrafts of all kinds, Painting for Beginners and Furniture Restoration. We hope to be able to offer workshops in all these subjects over the coming months with classes starting Wednesday 30th June 2021 (see our Calendar of Events for more up to date information). Thank you to all the volunteers, visitors and hospitality team who gave their whole-hearted support to this inaugural event!
